Who defeats General Dyer?

General Reginl Dyer suffered a series of strokes during the last years of his life and he became increasingly isolated due to the paralysis and speechlessness inflicted by his strokes. He died of cerebral haemorrhage and arteriosclerosis on 23 July 1927.
Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place on 13 April 1919. General Dyer blocked the only entrance to Jallianwala Bagh and ordered his troops to open fire on the unarmed civilians.
According to an official report, his troops killed 379 unarmed Indian men, women, and children and wounded some 1,200. As a result, Dyer was removed from command into enforced retirement.
Udham Singh was a Punjab revolutionary and freedom fighter belonging to the Ghadar Party. He assassinated Michael O' Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab on 13th March 1940 to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Churchill, the then Secretary of State for War, wanted Dyer to be disciplined, but the Army Council superseded by him decided to allow Dyer to resign with no plan for further punishment.
Dyer ordered his troops to begin shooting toward the densest sections of the crowd in front of the available narrow exits, where panicked crowds were trying to leave the Bagh. Firing continued for approximately ten minutes.
But historians say though Col Dyer was the man on the spot, it was Sir Michael Francis O'Dwyer, the lieutenant governor of Punjab, who ordered the Jallianwala massacre. According to Indu Banga, a specialist in history of Punjab: “Dwyer was an arch imperialist who was responsible for this massacre.

General Dyer opened fire on the gathering at Jallianwala Bagh in order to strictly enforce Martial Law prevailing that was in effect at Amritsar during the time. General Dyer also wanted to spread the message that there would be no disobedience to rule of the British colonials in India.

Udham Singh: A forgotten hero who sacrificed his life to avenge Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Udham Singh is one of the many forgotten heroes who sacrificed their lives purely for the love of their country. He was born in a small town named Sunam in Punjab on 26 December 1899.
As many as 90 British Indian Army soldiers, commanded by Colonel Reginald Dyer, opened fire on over 20,000 unarmed men, women, and children without any warning or order to disperse.
General Dyer was malignance personified. His action ensured the rapid end of the British Empire. On 13 April is the hundredth anniversary of the brutal massacre at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. The man responsible was a British military officer, Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer.
Singh was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. On 31 July 1940, Singh was hanged at Pentonville Prison by Albert Pierrepoint. His remains are preserved at the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab.
